Sharing Jesus with Children,
One Story at a Time
Conditions for distributing books as gifts from this ministry
The children’s picture books provided by the Martie Breytenbach Ministry are intended primarily for children between the ages of 5 and 8, particularly children who would otherwise not have the opportunity to own a high-quality Christian picture book.
Because these are beautifully illustrated, full-colour hardcover books that are costly to produce, we kindly ask that each book be entrusted to the care of a responsible adult, such as a parent, teacher, caregiver, children’s pastor, or ministry leader. The books are not intended to be randomly handed out to children without adult involvement.
1. The book should remain in the care of a responsible adult
We ask that the adult receiving the book take responsibility for keeping it safe and ensuring that it is used meaningfully with the child or children for whom it is intended.
Our desire is that these books will be treasured, cared for, and used repeatedly to minister to children, rather than being treated as disposable items.
2. The book is intended to be read and discussed with an adult
The stories are written not merely for entertainment, but to communicate foundational biblical truths and Christian principles in a way that children can understand.
For this reason, we strongly encourage an adult to read the story with or to the child and to engage the child in conversation about its meaning. Each book includes discussion prompts and teaching material at the back to help parents, teachers, and ministry leaders guide these conversations.
The adult therefore serves as an important mediator between the child and the story, helping the child understand and apply the biblical principles contained in the book.
3. The books are intended for children who would otherwise not be able to afford them
Because these books are offered free of charge as a ministry gift, they are intended primarily for underprivileged children and children who would not otherwise have access to or be able to afford a book of this quality.
Our hope is that each book will reach a child who will genuinely benefit from it—not only by enjoying the story, but by encountering the biblical truth and encouragement contained within it.
Our heart behind these conditions
These guidelines are not intended to make receiving a book difficult. Rather, they reflect our desire to be good stewards of the resources God has entrusted to this ministry and to ensure that each book reaches a child in the way it was intended.
Every book represents a significant investment of time, prayer, creativity, and financial resources. Our heartfelt desire is that each one will be carefully treasured, purposefully used, and become a meaningful instrument through which God can speak to a child’s heart.
Thank you for helping us honour the purpose of this ministry and for partnering with us in bringing biblical truth and the love of Jesus to children.
